Fidelity Wars #56: New Order – “Bizarre Love Triangle”

It’s become a bit of a running joke that my British friend Lawrie only listens to British pop and rock music from the 80s. Well, turns out he also listens to British synth pop (aka. new wave) from the 80s. At least Joy Division and New Order. Now and then he shares songs with me from his personal music library, one such song being New Order‘s “Bizarre Love Triangle”, which is this week’s featured track.

New Order – “Bizarre Love Triangle”

It’s pretty catchy. And curiously, an acoustic cover version of the song by the band Frente! seems to be more popular than the original, at least if YouTube video view counts are to be an indication. Personally I much prefer the original, the cover sounding relatively uninspired, if admittedly pretty. I also have a slight thing for electronic music.

  1. A fine selection of song, from my favourite decade! Though the 12″ remix is superior, the 7″/album version you’ve posted here is a fine track of itself (and not quite as long as the 12″, so more suitable as a poppy interlude.)
